Information on the nutritional requirements of BJRI developed new varieties is prerequisite before release for commercial cultivation. So, an experiment was conducted at Manikganj and Rangpur with a white jute breeding line BJC-370 to assess the nutritional requirement for its optimum growth and yield. From the study significant treatment difference were observed in producing the jute yield and yield contributing characters such as plant height, base diameter, green weight without and with leaves, fibre and stick yield. Highest fibre and stick yield obtained with 135-15-90-30 NPKS kg/ha at both location Rangpur and Manikganj respectively.

To recommend chemical fertilizer for fibre production of the variety BJC-370

The experiment was laid out in RCBD with 10 treatments of NPK and Zn having three replications. The unit plot size was 2.1m x 2.1m with one meter space between the blocks, plots and around the field. There were 20cm deep drain around each plot, block and around whole plot to drain out excess rain water. The following ten selective treatment combinations of NPK and Zn were used in the experiment: N -P- K -S (Kg/ha) T1: 00-00-00-00 T2: 45-05-30-10 T3: 45-10-60-20 T4: 45-15-90-30 T5: 90-05-30-10 T6: 90-10-60-20 T7: 90-15-90-30 T8: 135-05-30-10 T9: 135-10-60-20 T10: 135-15-90-30 Half of N and full amount of P, K and S from Urea, TSP, MP and Gypsum respectively were applied to the experimental plot as per treatment design at the time of final land preparation. Remaining half of N was top dressed at the time of 45 days after sowing. All the cultural practices were done properly in time.
