Effect of Integrated Fertilizer Management on Yield and Quality of Jute and Soil Environment

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An experiment was carried out to know the effect of integrated fertilizer management on yield and quality of jute and soil environment. Results showed that highest plant population was recorded in 0.50 RDF + pulse straw @ 4.0 t/ha treated experimental field but highest plant population, base diameter, fibre and stick yield were recorded with 0.75 RDF + pulse straw @ 2.0 t/ha treated plot. Better performances in all the parameters were recorded with O-72 among the varieties. From the interaction of fertilizer management on variety it was noticed that higher yield and yield parameters were found with 0.75 RDF + pulse straw @ 2.0 t/ha treatment on O-9897 except plant population.

Objectives:

To clarify the impact of different nutrition on fibre quality to improve soil environment

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at JAES, Manikganj with spli plot design having three replications. There were eight levels of fertilizer and three varieties. Fertilizer incorporated in the sub plot and the variety was used in the main plots. The unit plot size was 5.0m x 6.0m, keeping one meter drain between the plots, blocks and around the field. Treatments were as follows: (A) Variety-3 (main plot) (1) V₁= OM-1 (2) V₂= O-9897 (3) V₃= O-72 and (B) Fertilizer level-8 (sub plot): (T₁) control, (T₂) 0.75 RDF + rice straw @ 2.0 t/ha, (T₃) 0.75 RDF + pulse straw @ 2.0 t/ha (T₄) 0.50 RDF + rice straw @ 4.0 t/ha, (T₅) 0.50 RDF + pulse straw @ 4.0 t/ha, (T₆) 0.50 RDF + compost @ 4.0 t/ha, (T₇) 0.50 RDF + poultry litter @ 2.0 t/ha and (T₈) RDF. All the organic sources were applied before 15 days of sowing and full dose of PKSZn and half of N were applied at final land preparation and rest half were applied at 45 days after sowing.

Achievement/Findings:
