The experiment was conducted at Jute Research Sub-Station, Pakhimara, Patuakhali in 2009. The experiment was laid out in RCBD design with three replications. Forty four accessions of kenaf germplasm collected from different sources along with check varieties HC-2 and HC-95 were sown on 16 March, 2009. The materials under study were 1567, 1654, 1819, 1824, 1825, 1826, 1827, 1885, 2592, 2601, 2712, 2727, 2729, 2731, 2732, 2743, 2755, 2756, 2758, 2980, 2991, 3384, 3386, 3557, 1581, 1582, 1583, 1584, 1585, 1597, 1599, 1621, 1623, 1655,1657, 3928, 3747, 4202, 4284, 4391, 4392, 5057, 1663 and 3940. Row to row distance was 30 and plant to plant distance was 5-6 cm in rows. Standard cultural practices were followed. Pigmentation data on stem colour, leaf colour, vain colour, petiole colour, stipule colour, bud colour, and fruit colour were collected at 60 days after sowing. Disease, pest infestation and fibre properties data were collected from sowing to before harvesting period. Plants were harvested at 120 days after sowing and post harvest data on plant height, node number, base diameter of stem, middle diameter of stem, top diameter of stem, core diameter, dry fibre weight and dry stick weight were collected.
