Abstract/ Executive Summary:

This experiment were carried out at JAES.Manikganj in 2006.All of the lines were susceptible to mite. Not a single line were survived well having short day and low temperature tolerance coupled with mite tolerance characters .

Objectives:

To identify short day and low temperature tolerance lines of tossa jute coupled with mite tolerance characters .

Methodology:

An experiment was under taken at JAES.Manikganj station in 2006 to isolate the short day and low temperature tolerance lines of tossa jute coupled with mite tolerance characters but high yielding.Twenty germplasms with two existing varieties namely O-9897 and BJRI Tossa pat-4(O-72) were sown having three lines of three meters length for each genotypes.Proper and same intercultural operation and agronomic practices were taken.Plant population,plant height,base diameter,green weight,dry fibre and stick weight were recorded in experimental period.Searching short day and low temperature tolerance lines of tossa jute coupled with mite tolerance characters .Mite infested plants were removed from the plot.Top cutting were performed after 100 days of sowing in the stations
