Development of Management Package in Controlling Mymv of Mungbean

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An experiment was conducted at RARS, Barisal and PRSS, Joydebpur, Gazipur during 2011-2012. In case of RARS, Barisal, efficacy of different treatments namely Furadan 3G, Furadan 3G + Admire (0.05%), Furadan 3G + Sobicron (0.2%), Furadan 3G + NLE (1:10) and two check variety i.e. BARImung-1 and BARI Mung-6 was designed against MYMV under natural field condition. Results reveled that BARImung-6 gave the lowest PDI (24.54) and highest yield (1413 Kg/ha) followed by Furadan 3G + Admire (0.05%) against MYMV (1255 Kg/ha). In case of PRSS, Joydebpur, efficacy of different treatments namely Furadan 3G, Furadan 3G + Admire (0.05%), Furadan 3G + Sobicron (0.2%), Furadan 3G + NLE (1:10) and two variety i.e. BARImung-4 and BARI Mung-6 was designed against MYMV under natural field condition. Results reveled that the lowest MYMV disease severity was found in Furadan 3G + Admire treated plot (1.00%) where BARI Mung-6 variety was used and the highest disease severity was found in untreated plot, treated plot where BARI Mung-4 was used as well as yield (1465 kg/ha) and yield attributes (pod length, plant/pod and 100 seed wt) also higher among the all treatments

Objectives:

To find out the optimum management packages in controlling MYMV of mungbean.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at RARS, Rahmatpur, Barisal and PRSS,BARI,Gazipur during 2011-2012. The experiment was laid out in a well-prepared land. The design was RCB having 3 replications. The variety used was BARI Mung-1. There were 6 treatments namely Furadan 3G used as basal, Furadan+Admire (spraying at 30 and 37 days after sowing), Furadan+Neem leaf extract, Furadan+Sobicron (spraying at 30 and 37 days after sowing) and two check i.e. BARI Mung-4 and BARImung-6. The sowing date was 10 February and 12 March of 2012 at Barishal and Gazipur,Respectively During the growing period the plots were inspected regularly to record the incidence of MYMV disease from seedling to maturity stage of the crop. MYMV affected plants counted regularly.For both the locations, the disease was generally rated on 1-9 scoring scale. The scale was 1=0% mortality (R), 2-3=10% or less mortality (MR), 4-5=11-20% mortality (T), 6-7=21-50% mortality (MS) and 8-9=51% or more mortality (S). Data were recorded on MYMV affected plant, disease free plant survival, plant height, no. of pods/plant, no. of seeds/plant, 100 seed weight and yield. The data was analyzed statistically for DMRT. (Zaman et al., 1982).

Achievement/Findings:

It was found that Furadan 3G used as basal and Admire (spraying at 30 and 37 days after sowing) is very much effective in controlling MYMV of mungbean.
