Hybrid seeds produced 2007-08 at Joydebpur and Debigonj stations were planted at Breeder Seed Production Centre, Debigonj on seedbed. Among the produced seedling tubers 205 kg single tubers and 20 kg of single plant of 128 progenies were selected. These selected seedling tubers would be planted in the field next year for clonal selection.

Production of seedling tubers for evaluation and variety selection, and estimation of combining abilities.

The experiment was set up at BSPC, Debigonj. Thirty-four hybrid combinations were planted at 4 ´ 25 cm spacing on seedbeds. Dates of planting ranged between 4.11.08 to 10.11.08 with the plot size of 1.2 m breadth but the length was variable depending on the quantity of seed available. Recommended doses of fertilizers management practices were applied. Haulm killing was done on 22.02.09 (110 DAS) and harvesting was done at 10.03.09 (16 days later).
