Development of Jute –wool Mixed Yarn and Products.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

To improve the aesthetic properties of the jute blended blanket huge amount of local sheep wool, which is going to un-utilized, were blended with jute with the collaboration of BSCIC. The collected wool was scoured and blended with woolenized jute at the ratio of 65:35. About 151 lb/spindle (517 tex) count of yarn was prepared from composite blended materials. From this blended yarn a blanket base fabric was woven on a picanol loom with 120 P.P.M. Finally, it was not possible to raise this fabric due to some technical trouble.

Objectives:

1.To develop new products to improve market potentiality.

2.To blend/ mix or to make union of local sheep or lamb wool with jute for the improvement of the existing Novotex blanket and also to use the local coarse, rough and short wool fiber.

Methodology:

Local lamb or sheep wool was collected from BSCIC center of Chapainawabgong. This wool was scoured and de-gummed by chemical treatment in the pilot plant division. This scoured wool was blended with woolenized jute at the proportion of 65% jute and 35% wool in the spinning department and the yarn was spun by spinning wheel (Charka). Approximate count of yarn was 151lb/spindle (517 tex). From this blended yarn a blanket base fabric was woven on a Picanol loom with 120 P.P.M. in the weaving department. It was not possible to raise this fabric due to some technical trouble.
