Variety and Species
The experiment was conducted to study the genetic divergence of some deshi jute germ plasm at Jute Agriculture Experimental Station, Manikganj in 2007. Thirty accessions of selected deshi jute germ plasm collected from home and abroad along with check varieties CVL-1 and CVE-3 were sown on 13 March, 2007. The materials under study were 858, 859, 862, 863, 864, 865, 877, 880, 890, 924, 925, 927, 935, 941, 943, 945, 948, 957, 1482, 1483, 1489, 1490, 1491, 1520, 1800, 1920, 1947, 1958, 1973 and 2040. The experiment was laid out in RCBD design with three replications. Length of line was 3 m, row to row distance was 30 cm and plant to plant distance was 5-6 cm in rows. Standard cultural practices were followed. Pigmentation data on stem color, leaf color, vain color, petiole color, stipule color, bud color, and fruit color were collected at 60 days after sowing. Plants were harvested at 120 days after sowing and post harvest data on plant height, node number, base diameter of stem, middle diameter of stem, top diameter of stem, core diameter, dry fiber weight and dry stick weight were collected. The data were analyzed following standard statistical procedure.
