Inheritance of Some Quantitative and Qualitative Attributes of Roselle (h .sabdariffa L.)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An experiment was conducted at Jute Agriculture Experimental Station, Manikganj to estimate the inheritance of some quantitative and qualitative attributes of eight parental line of mesta germ plasm along with their 56 F1s were sown on 12 April, 2006 along with the check variety HS-24. Each entry was sown in a single row of 3.5m. Row to row distance was 30 and plant to plant distance was 10 cm in rows. Pigmentation data were collected at 60 days after sowing. Plants were harvested at 140 days after sowing and post harvest data were collected. The accessions were characterized for their morph-agronomic attributes as per Hibiscus descriptor. Morpho-agronomical data of the entries were taken. The 56F1 hybrids were used as pollen parents and were crossed with both the parents during November and December, 2006 for obtaining BC1 and BC2 population.
