Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted during the year 2009-2010 at Bangladesh Jute Research Institute Dhaka, Yarn & Fabric Production Department to studies on the effect of fabric construction. The yarn was collected and the warp beam was made. Then the fabric was oven in rapier loom. Then the physical properties were tested. The test results were different for different fabrics. It was observed that the tensile strength of the twill fabric is more then the other two types of fabrics. On the other hand abrasion resistance of diamond fabric is more then the other two types of fabrics. So we can say that each type of fabric is good for particular properties.

Objectives:

(i)Improvement of diversified use of jute fabrics.

(ii) Pilot scale production, test marketing, entrepreneurship development and transfer of technology.

Methodology:

Three different structure of fabrics were made. They are as follows: a) Plain Fabric, B)2/2 Twill fabric c)Diamond fabric The procedure of different types of fabrics production are as follows: i. Collection of yarn: 40 kgs jute yarn of 8 lbs/spindle count was collected from the Experimental Spinning Mill. ii) Preparation of warp beam: A warp beam of 100 yards was prepared by 20/2 cotton yarn with the help of beaming machine. iii) Weaving:For Weaving the fabric, the rapier loom was used. The cotton was used in the warp and jute yarn was used in the weft then the fabric was made. iv) Determination of physical properties of fabric: Different properties of different fabrics were tested in testing department.

From the above result, we see that the tensile strength of the twill fabric is more then the other two types of fabrics. On the other hand abrasion resistance of diamond fabric is more then the other two types of fabrics. Again, the thickness of diamond fabric is more then the other two types of fabrics.
