Management of N-fertilizer for Double Transplanted Aman and Boro Rice in Boro-fallow-t.aman Cropping Pattern.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Objective of this study was to find out suitable N management technique(s) of transplanted Aman and Boro rice of Boro-Fallow-T.Aman cropping pattern. Therefore, this study was conducted in RCB design with three replications. From this study it was found that yield ranged in Boro and T.Aman season were 5.27 to 4.99 and 6.59 to 6.33 t/ha respectively. LCC based BN management could save about 58% N in both T.Aman and Boro season.

Objectives:

Methodology:

Boro-Fallow-T.Aman is the major cropping of high and medium high land of irrigated ecosystem. Double transplanting is practiced to obtain the full benefit of the season and also to increase the system productivity by inclusion of a transitional period crop. But information of N fertilizer management of double transplanted boro and T.Aman rice is lacking. Therefore, this study was conducted in RCB design with three replications.

Achievement/Findings:

In T.Aman season, except no. of filled grains/panicle, grain yield, no of panicle/m2 and 1000 grain weight not significantly affected by different N- management options. Similar trends were also observed in Boro season. However, yield ranged in Boro and T.Aman season were 5.27 to 4.99 and 6.59 to 6.33 t/ha respectively. LCC based BN management could save about 58% N in both T.Aman and Boro season.
