Eighteen TPS progenies introduced from CIP including Cardinal as check were evaluated for their yield potentiality and tuber characters at four locations during 2007-2008 crop seasons. On average of four locations, considering yield and tuber characters progenies TPS-2 x TS-15, C96H-13.29 x TPS-67, LT-8 x TS-15, MF-II x TS-15, Achirana x TS-15, C96H-13.29 x TPS-13, C95LB-22.2 x TPS-67, C96H-10.25 xTPS67 and C96H-02.7 x TPS-67 seemed to be promising under Bangladesh condition.

To identify TPS progenies suitable for Bangladesh condition

The experiment was conducted at Joydebpur, Munshigonj, Bogra and Pahartali during the Rabi season, 2007-08. Eighteen TPS progenies introduced from CIP and Cardinal as check was included in the study. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with three replications. Whole tubers were planted on 3m x 3m plot at 60 cm x 25 cm spacing. Fertilizers were applied @ 325-220-250-120 kg/ha of urea, TSP, MP and gypsum respectively. Full amount of TSP, MP & gypsum and 50% of urea were applied as basal and the remaining amount of urea was side dressed at 35 DAP. Weeding, irrigation, earthing-up and other intercultural operations were done as per TCRC recommendation. The crop was harvested at maturity.
