Comparative Study on Mono-head Drawing Drawing Frames Over Conventional Drawing Frames.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

To perform the above comparative study in this year, yarns of 258.3 tex (7.5 lbs/spy) and 345 tex (10 lbs/spy) were spun from BWE and BWC by both mono-head and conventional drawing line in the sequence of process for establishing superiority of mono-head drawing frame over the conventional one. From the above results it is seen that quality of yarns spun from mono-head line is slightly superior conventional one. It may be mentioned here that the auto-leveller device of mono-head drawing frame does not work properly. By overcoming the defects of auto leveler device, better quality yarn may be expected from mono-head drawing frame.

Objectives:

To generate technical information to improve yarn quality by using auto-levelling and also help to increase productivity over conventional by further development or modification of mono-head drawing frame.

Methodology:

A batch of 100 Kgs BWE was processed on softener machine with normal emulsion (79.7%) water, 20% oil & 0.3% emulsifier on the weight of the emulsion) application. after conditioning (48 hours) it was processed with a chosen dolloph wt. of 16.36 Kgs (36 lbs) through Breaker card. Then Finisher card livers were divided into two portions and one was processed through mono-head Drawing line (1st mono-head, 2nd mono-head & Finisher Drawing frame) and the other was processed through conventional Drawing line (1st drawing, 2nd drawing and Finisher drawing frames) Yarn of 258.3 tex (7.5 lbs/spy) and 345 tex (10 lbs/spy) were spun. Another batch of 100 Kg BWC was processed with the same experimental procedure as in(A). Yarns of 258.3 tex and 345 tex were spun and tested.

Achievement/Findings:

There is a slight improvement of the yarns from mono-head system over the conventional system. The expected improvement of the yarns were not achieved and that might be due to not functioning of the DOM properly. The repetitions of experiments with other batches will be carried out.
