Two advanced mukhikachu lines viz. MK-029 and MK-140 along with a check (Bilashi) were evaluated at Joydebpur Jamalpur and Jessore. On an average of three locations the mean yield was highest in MK-029 (32.84 t/ha) followed by MK-140 (32.44 t/ha). The dry yields of the tested lines were higher than that of the check. Therefore, considering all the parameters, MK-029 and MK-140 has been selected to apply for release as a variety.

To select varieties for high yield and quality of mukhikochu

The trial was conducted at Joydebpur, Jamalpur and Jessore during the Kharif season of 2006. Two advanced mukhikachu lines viz. MK-029 and MK-140 were compared with the check Bilashi. The crop was planted on 20-25th March 2007 following randomized complete block design with five replications. The unit plot size was 3.0 x 4.5 m and spacing was 60 x 45 cm. Recommended doses of fertilizers were used. Crop was harvested on 6-10 th October 2007. Data were collected on yield and yield contributing characters and were analyzed statistically.
