Advanced Yield Trial of Some Breeding Lines of Tossa Jute (2004)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment were carried out at Manikganj,Kishoreganj,Faridpur ,Chandina and Rangpur stations in 07-03-2004 following RCBD.The advanced line Ped-11/95-3,ped-7/95(R), OM-2 and check OM-1 and O-9897 were sown .Highest fiber yield was observed in ped-7/95(R(3.28t/ha)at Chandina . The line OM-2 gave higher performance in Faridpur(3.26t/ha). Pooled mean revealed that OM-2(2.27t/ha) gave higher yield among all the tested lines .Ped-7/95(R) gave higher yield than the control O-9897.

Objectives:

1.To screen out some lines against short day and low temperature tolerance compared to O-9897 and OM-1

2.To assess their yield performance and attributes under different agronomical traits

Methodology:

The materials Ped-11/95-3,ped-7/95(R), OM-2 (a natural mutant selected from OM-1) , check OM-1 and O-9897 were used and sown in the Manikganj,Kishoreganj,Faridpur ,Chandina and Rangpur stations of BJRI at 07-03-2004 .The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications having 4.5m X 3.0m plot size. Standard agricultural and agronomic practices were followed.The crop were harvested 120 days after sowing and collecting necessary data(Plant Population,Plant Height,Base Diameter,Fibre and Stick Weight)
