Comparative Yield Trail of Tossa Jute Varieties O-72 and Local Variety 2004

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was carried out at Manikganj and Faridpur stations in 2005.The variety O-72 gave higher performance at Manikganj and Faridpur stations in respect of fiber yield.Comparative plant population and plant height were also higher in case of O-72 than Local variety.

Objectives:

To compare yield performance of BJRI tossa pat-4(O-72) and Local variety under different agro-ecological condition of Bangladesh.

Methodology:

The experiment were undertaken in Manikganj and Faridpur stations of BJRI at 2004 following RCBD .A plot of 14.5 meters was used for O-72 and same size other for Local variety.The seeds of both varieties were sown on 15th March 2005.Equal quality of seed of both varieties were sown and equal number of plants were maintained for the varieties. Intercultural operation were be done in time simultaneously for whole plots as per recommendation.The plots were located preferably at roadside. The sown plots were harvested after 120 days of sowing.
