Preliminary Yield Trail of Some Short Day and Low Temperature Tolerance Lines of Tossa Jute (2004)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was carried out in Manikganj,Faridpur and Rangpur in 2004.The breeding line Acc-1245 gave the best performance at Faridpur(3.17t/ha) stations in respect of fiber yield among the tested lines.Highest plant population was also observed in O-9897(3.43L/ha) at Faridpur station.Pooled mean revealed that Acc-1245 gave(2.34t/ha) higher yield over control varieties.

Objectives:

1.To assess their yield performance in short day under different agro-ecological condition

2.To assess their yield performance in low temperature tolerance under different agro-ecological condition

Methodology:

The materials cc-1128,Acc-1245, Ac-1629 and check O-9897 and OM-1 were used and sown in the Manikganj,Faridpur and Rangpur stations of BJRI at 15-03-2004 .The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications having 2.1m X 3.0m plot size. Standard agricultural and agronomic practices were followed.The crop were harvested 120 days after sowing and collecting necessary data(Plant Population,Plant Height,Base Diameter,Fiber Yield and Stick Yield)
