The moisture regain of the grades of jute viz. BWC, BWD, BWE studied throughout the year and quarterly basis. : The moisture regain of jute was a found to vary appreciably with the change of the season. The higher percentage of moisture regain was recorded in the month of June and the lower moisture regain in December.

Standard moisture regain of jute of different grades in different months in Bangladesh.

For this study, the jute was collected from BJRI store. Three grades namely BWC, BWD, BWE which were available in the store were collected for the experiment.For the experiment, the sample was exposed on the open air for 48 hours. Then the moisture regain of the exposed jute were determined by moisture testing oven, as per standard test methods.

It is observed that the higher percentage of moisture regain was recorded in the month of June and the lower moisture regain in December. Moreover, it was found that the moisture regain of BWE is higher than that of BWD. It was also found that the moisture regain of BWD is higher than that of BWC.So, it may be concluded that the moisture regain of jute varied appreciably with the change of the season and the moisture regain of lower grade of jute fibre is higher than that of the higher grades. But more trials with the higher grades of fibres viz. A &B need to be carried out for conclusion.
