Validation of Real Time N Management by the Use of Lcc in Boro Rice Under Afz 28.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The real time N-fertilizer (urea) management by the use of leaf colour chart (LCC) has been generated through farmers participatory research conducted during 2000-02 in Greater Kushtia district. There has been yield increase and urea saving of LCC-based N-management and the results have been validated in several other districts including Gazipur. Grain yields of two varieties were increased and N use was decreased in LCC based N management over the farmers practice. The average increase in BRRI dhan28 was 0.65 t/ha and for BRRI dhan29 was 0.86 t/ha. The average decreased in N application was 23 and 4 kg/ha in BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan29 respectively. Farmers have been highly encouraged out of the results obtained towards adoption of real time N management option by use of LCC.

Objectives:

To validate the real time N management by the use of LCC in Boro rice under AFZ 28.

Methodology:

This trial was conducted to validate the findings and enhance promotion of the technology at FSR&D site, Kapasia comprises of diverse land types under AEZ 28. Before the season, farmers were oriented on how to use LCC for applying urea in rice crop. This trial was conducted in 10 farmers fields for each of BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan29 in Dashunarayanpur block under Gazipur Sadar Upazila.
