To isolate genetic resources of jute (C. capsuaris) with tolerance to salinity screening program was designed following germination test in saline after (19m mhos/cm). This year 325 (C.capsularis) germ plasm accessions (acc. No. 501-835) were taken up under this program. Twenty five seeds in 4 replications from each accessions were allowed to germinate in saline water in petridishes. Germination of the seeds were counted after 4 days including water sample.The result showed that most of the accessions germinated in water but only five accessions germinated in saline water. Variety CVE-3 and BJC-83 also showed 5 and 8% germination at that sat concentration.

The result showed that most of the accessions germinated in water but only five accessions germinated in saline water such as 556, 599, 652, 662 and 721. Variety CVE-3 and BJC-83 also showed 5 and 8% germination at that sat concentration.
