Flowering Responsesd of Newly Evolved Varieties of C.capsularis to Day Length in 2000.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

This experiment was conducted in the green house premises to test flowering sensitivity of some varieties against number of short cycles Seeds of two newly evolved varieties BJC-7370 and BJC-83 were sown under long day condition (D/S: 11/05/2000). Short day cycles (11:30h) were created by covering the seedlings with plastic pots. Short day (1-18 short cycles) treatments was given to each variety and their flowering behavior was recorded. Eighteen short cycles were given to one set of the experimental plants. After the treatments all the plants were grown in long day condition. The result showed that BJC-7370 and BJC-83 were not flower earlier following 1-17 short day exposure but flowered at 126,and 103 days respectively. After 18 short day exposure BJC-7370 and BJC-83 flowered at 39 and 30 days respectively.
