Hybridization Among the Selected Genotypes of Tossa Jute 2002

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was carriedout at Greenhouse premises BJRI,Dhaka in 2002. There are Fifty crosses were made in 19 cross combinations and twenty-five pods were developed.O-4xPed-7/95, SDLT-1xPed-7/95,O-4xAcc-3818 and SDLT-1xO-4 combinations were more desired.Fifty crosses were made in 19 cross combinations and twenty-five pods were obtained.

Objectives:

To create genetic variation to accumulate desirable genes from diverse parents into a same parent to create recombinant types for accumulating desirable genes into an one offspring

Methodology:

Four cultivated varieties of tossa jute namely O-4(early maturing lanceolate leaf), O-9897(ovate lanceolate leaf),O-72()Ovate leaf),OM-1(glossy leaf),SDLT-1,SDLT-2,Ped-7/95(red) and Acc-3818 were used as parent materials and sown on August 2002.There are three same sets of parents were sown fifteen days intervals for ensuring maximum syncronization.Recommended intercultural and Agronomic were done for raising the parental materials.At afternoon, the un-opend but probably mature flowers were emasculated and bagged separately.Next morning,the emasculated flowers were pollinated by desired parent and tagging then bagging.Previously isolated less photo and thermo sensitive ,seed coat colour accompanying with undesirable character such as less biomass formation.in order to combine these characteristics with recommended high yielding cultivars.This program was undertaken.The combination of the crosses were O-4xAcc-3818,O-9897xO-4,O-9897xSDLT-1, O-9897xSDLT-2,4.O-4xO-98973,Ped7/95xO-9897,O-4xO-72,O-72xO-4,O-4xPed-7/95,O-4xAcc-3818,SDLT-1xO-4,SDLT-2xO-4,SDLT-2xO-72,SDLT-1xO-72,SDLT-1xAcc-3818,Ped-7/95xO-4,O-4xSDLT-2,SDLT-1xPed-7/95,Acc-3818xO-4 and Acc-3818xSDLT-2,Among the combinationsO-4xPed-7/95, SDLT-1xPed-7/95,O-4xAcc-3818 and SDLT-1xO-4 were more desired.Fifty crosses were made in 19 cross combinations and twenty-five pods were obtained.
