Anatomical Studies on Fibre Compactness and Fibre Fineness(quality) of Tossa Jute (2002)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was carried out in JAES, Manikganj in 2002.The lines Acc-1806 gave highest(2.02t/ha) performance at Manikganj stations in respect of fibre yield than all testers.Highest plant height was also observed in Acc-1806(3.12m).The highest base diameter was found in Acc-1886(19.29mm).

Objectives:

To find out bark thickness
To assess yield performance and attributes under different agro-ecological condition

Methodology:

The materials Acc-2920,Acc-1419,Acc-4582, Acc-3821,Acc-3820,Acc-3812,Acc-1806,Acc-1886,check OM-1 and O-9897 were used and sown in the Manikganj stations of BJRI at 15-03-2002.The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications having 2.1m X 3.0m plot size. Generally 2cm sized middle part of stem were taken and for microscopic study and preserved into FAA solution. Standard agricultural and agronomic practices were followed.The crop were harvested 110 days after sowing and collecting necessary data (plant height,base diameter,leaf length,leaf breath,leaf length breath ratio,branch habit,fiber and stick weight).
