Zonal Yield Trail of Early Sown Lines of Tossa Jute

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment were carriedout at Manikganj,Kishoreganj,Faridpur,Rangpur and Monirampur stations in 2001.The materials F-390(derived from a cross between the commercial variety O-4 and an exotic parent of Ugandan origin) with check O-9897 and Om-1 were used and sown in the Manikganj,Kishoreganj,Faridpur,Rangpur and Monirampur stations of BJRI at 15-03-2001 folowing RCBD. The line F-390 gave highest performance in Rangpur(3.68t/ha) among the all stations and testers.Highest plant population was also observed in F-390 at Faridpur (3.752L/ha). Pooled mean revealed thatF-390 gave higher yield(3.20t/ha)among all the tested lines.

Objectives:

1.To assess the yield and suitability of a breeding line (F-390) under different zons of Bangladesh and

2.To assess the yield performance and attributes under different zons of Bangladesh.

Methodology:

The materials F-390(derived from a cross between the commercial variety O-4 and an exotic parent of Ugandan origin) with check O-9897 and Om-1 were used and sown in the Manikganj,Kishoreganj,Faridpur,Rangpur and Monirampur stations of BJRI at 15-03-2001.The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications having 4.5m X 3.0m plot size. Standerd agricultural and agronomic practices were followed.The crop were harvested 120 days after sowing and collecting necessary data(population,plant height,fibre and stick weight).
