Regional Yield Trail of Some Breeding Lines of Tossa Jute

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was carried out in Manikganj,Faridpur,Rangpur,Kishoreganj and Monirampur in 2001.At first set,in Manikganj station, SDLT-3 gave higher than O-9897 and similar yield as control variety OM-1.At Faridpur station, SDLT-3 gave higher than OM-1 and similar yield as control variety O-9897, but At Rangpur station SDLT-3 gave higher than OM-1 and lower than O-9897.2nd set,P-11/95-2 gave highest yield than all testers.Acc-4311,P-7/95-R and Acc-4575 gave higher yield than controls.

Objectives:

1.To assess their yield performance in short day under different agro-ecological condition.

2.To assess their yield performance in low temperature tolerance under different agro-ecological condition two varieties

Methodology:

There were two set of materials,first set was previously isolated short day and low temperature tolerant lines of tossa jute which were materials SDLT-1,SDLT-2 and SDLT-3 but second set were eight materials namely,P-11/95-2,Acc-4311,Acc-4319,P-7/95-R,Acc-3724,Acc-4575,P-3/96,Acc-3812 and check O-9897 and OM-1.1st set were sown in the Manikganj,Faridpur and Rangpur,respectfully at 15-02-2001 and 2nd set on 01-03-2001 in Manikganj,Faridpur,Rangpur,Kishoreganj and Monirampur.The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications having 2.1m X 3.0m plot size. Standard agricultural and agronomic practices were followed.The crop were harvested 120 days after sowing and collecting necessary data(Plant Population,Plant Height,Base Diameter,Fiber Yield and Stick Yield).
