Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted during the year 1999-2000 at Bangladesh Jute Research Institute Dhaka, Jute Waste Processing Department to develop a Recycling Device for minimization of wastage of yarn.The PMD meter of BJRI pulls about 50 meters of yarns per minute in yarn mass variability test. This quantity of yarn becomes totally wastage after PMD test. So. If a scientist wants to reserve the sample that tested, he can not do it or the tested yarn cannot be used otherwise. So the portable type of recycling Device which is going to be constructed under this project will save the Jute yarn after PMD test and the scientists will be able to reserve or reuse the sample yarn again after PMD measurement.

Objectives:

To minimize the wastage of yarn during the measurement of yarn mass variability of jute yarn.

Methodology:

The experimental procedure of this project involved the following sequences: 1. Survey of literature 2. Design and drawing of mechanical and electrical systems. 3. Procurements of raw materials. 4. Fabrication of Machinery and optimization. Firstly, the literature survey was done skillfully and design and drawing works for both mechanical and electrical system were completed accordingly by the project coordinator himself. But, some complecacy in setting some mechanical and electrical parameter were overcome by taking technical helps from outside and some wood works have partially been done by carpenters on contract basis. Procurements of raw materials for the mechanical system was done by a tender call and the same thing for electrical systems are under processing.

Achievement/Findings:

Project proposal was submitted for a three years project for this development work. Then it was firstly revised by evaluation committee of BARC and reduced to two years project. But, it was again revised and we finally got an approval of 18 months project having a date of commencement from 1st July, 19999. But it is notable that we actually got the fund release at the last week of August 1999 and that is why the work was actually started with effect from 1st September, 1999. However, we have made a satisfactory progress and we are now ready for the fabrication of the Device and it will be possible to do in proper time.
