To identify the molecular marker for environmental stress such as waterloggin tolerance, a cross was made between water logging susceptible var O-4 and tolerant var. incisifolius. The RAPD (Randomly Amlified Polymorphic DNA) pattern of the two parents and 9 F1 plants were studied. Here C. olitorius var. incisifolius was used as mother parent. They observed that the band patterns of F1 plants were vary similar to mother parent, though some narrow bands were observed in the lane no. 3,4,5 6 and 10.
