An experiment was carried out to find out the suitable genotype of strawberry grown well under tropical climatic condition. Six genotypes were collected from different locations of Bangladesh and transplanted in to the research field of Horticulture Department at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur. The results revealed that among the six genotypes, V6 (FA002) performed better than other genotypes.

• To select the tropical genotype of strawberry. • To find out the molecular characteristics of high yielding strawberry genotypes. • To determine the long shelf life genotypes of tropical strawberry. • To identify the heat tolerant gene in strawberry.

To fulfill the objectives, different experiments were conducted. Experiment 1. Survey and collection of strawberry germplasm Objectives: 1. To know about the present status of strawberry germplasm in Bangladesh 2. To collect available germplasm from different locations. A survey work has been done at different locations of Bangladesh to gather knowledge about the strawberry germplasm availability and their production techniques. The following germplasms have been collected from different government and non-government organizations that are directly or indirectly related with the strawberry cultivation. The collected daughter plants were planted in the nursery beds for multiplication.Finally 35 days old plants were selected for planting in the research field for evaluating their performance. Experiment 2: Screening and Field Evaluation of Strawberry Genotypes Objectives: 1. To identify a strawberry genotype suited in our climatic condition. 2. To evaluate the strawberry genotypes grown in the research field. There are six (6) strawberry genotypes (FA001, FA002, FA003, FA004, FA005 and FA006) have been collected from different locations of Bangladesh and multiplied them into the nursery of Horticulture Department at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University and finally transplanted into the research field for their evaluation. In that experiment, six genotypes were used as plant materials. Experiment 3. Post harvest technology and shelf life of strawberry genotypes Objectives: 1. To develop a post harvest management packages for strawberry 2. To know about the shelf life of strawberry genotypes under different storage conditions. There are six (6) strawberry genotypes (FA001, FA002, FA003, FA004, FA005 and FA006) have been collected from different locations of Bangladesh and multiplied them into the nursery of Horticulture Department at BSMRAU and finally transplanted into the research field for their evaluation.
