Evaluation of Some Advance Breeding Lines of White Jute for Higher Yield

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The objectives of the experiment was to select disease tolerant genotypes coupled with high yield. In this experiment 10 randomized breeding lines were tested along with variety CVL-1 as check at Manikganj. Insignificant differences were observed in respect of fiber yield. A few breeding lines C-2234, C-2236, C-2252, C-2277 and C-2281 were showed numerically higher yield than the control variety. Significant differences were observed among the line in respect of stick yield.

Objectives:

To select disease tolerant genotypes coupled with high yield.

Methodology:

This experiment was carried out with ten breeding lines (C-2234,C-2236, C-2242,C-2252,C-2262,C-2267,C-2277,C-2281,C-2295,C-2305)and one check variety, CVL-1 at JAES, Manikganj to study their yield and yield attributes. These progenies were grown in a randomized complete block design with three replications having unit plot size of 2.1m x 3.0m = 6.30 sq. m. At the age of 120 days, data were recorded on plant population, plant height, base diameter, green weight, fiber weight and stick weight.

Achievement/Findings:
