Dry Matter Partitioning of Deshi Varieties in 2005.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The date of seeding and the maintenance of crop as per BJRI recommendation.Plant were sequentially harvested at and interval of 15 days from days of emergence. A samples of three plants were collected from each pot for dry matter distribution.Results carried out the numerical higher plant height and base diameter was recorded in the variety CVE-3, which were 269.58 cm and 19.97 mm respectively in comparison to the line BJC-2142, the highest LDW were observed at the early stage of growth (15 DAE) in both the line which were around 65 and 68% in respect of total dry weight for the line BJC-2142 and CVE-3 respectively. The leaf dry weight gradually decreased to 8.7 and 7.02% at 120 DAE for those varieties respectively. On the other hand percentage of SDW increased from 16.28 and 15.49% to 43.08 and 48.10% for the line BJC-2142 and CVE-3 respectively. Harvest index increased gradually from 12.16 and 9.55% to 31.60 and 29.28% for those lines respectively. The root dry weight (%) at 120 DAE was 16.62 and 15.6 for the line BJC-2142 and CVE-3 respectively

Objectives:

To find out the growth pattern of advanced Corchorus Capsularius breeding line.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted in BJRI green house premised in pot to assess the growth pattern of two genotypes of deshi jute.
