Objective of this study was to To identify the proper fertilizer management packages through inorganic amendments for Rice-Fallow-Rice and rice-based cropping systems under different cold and submergence ecosystem. The experiment was conducted at Farmer’s field in Gangachara, Rangpur (AEZ-3). The initial The tested cropping pattern was Boro-Fallow-T. Aman. Applied fertilizer significantly influenced the grain and straw yield of Boro rice 2011-12. The highest grain yield of 8.68 t/ha was obtained with the treatment T3.The best performance was observed in T3 (T1+ 25% NP) i.e. STB dose + 25% NP at Rangpur site.

To identify the proper fertilizer management packages through inorganic amendments for Rice-Fallow-Rice and rice-based cropping systems under different cold and submergence ecosystem.

The experiment was conducted at Farmer’s field in Gangachara, Rangpur (AEZ-3). The initial The tested cropping pattern was Boro-Fallow-T. Aman. The following treatments were tested: T1 = 100 % N P K S Zn (STB); T2 = T1 + 25 % N; T3 = T1 + 25 % N P; T4 = T1 + 25 % N K; T5 = T1 + 25 % PK; T6 = T1 + 25 % N P K; T7 = 75 % of T1 and T8 = Absolute control. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The tested varieties were BRRI dhan29 for Boro season and BRRI dhan52 for T. Aman season. In Boro season, one-third N and all other inorganic fertilizers were applied at final land preparation. The first top dress (One-third N) was applied at 30 DAT. The rest 1/3 N was applied at 60 DAT. And in T. Aman season one-third N, 1/2 K and all other inorganic fertilizers were applied at final land preparation. The first top dress (One-third N) was applied at 18 DAT. The rest 1/3 N and ½ K was applied at 55 DAT. Necessary intercultural operations were done as and when ever required. At maturity, the crop was harvested from 5 m2 area at the centre of each plot and grain yield was adjusted to 14% moisture. The grain and straw yields were recorded. Nutrient contents (N, P and K) from plant samples of the cropping pattern were determined by standard laboratory procedure.

Applied fertilizer significantly influenced the grain and straw yield of Boro rice 2011-12. The highest grain yield of 8.68 t/ha was obtained with the treatment T3. The lowest grain yield (4.39t/ha) was found in the treatment T8 (control). Like Boro season, applied fertilizer significantly influenced the grain and straw yield of T. Aman rice 2012. The grain yield was higher in the treated plots than that of the control plot (T8). The highest grain yield of 6.02 t/ha was obtained with the treatment T6, which were statistically similar to T1, T2, T3, T4. T5 and T7. The lowest grain yield (4.01 t/ha) was found in the control plot (T8). The highest annual grain yield 14.41 t/ha/crop-cycle was obtained with the treatment T3 (T1+ 25% NP). Applied fertilizer significantly influenced the nutrient uptake by Boro and T. Aman rice of the cropping pattern. The highest total NPK nutrient uptake (kg/ha/crop cycle) was observed in the treatment T3 followed by T4. The lowest total NPK nutrient uptake (kg/ha/crop cycle) was observed in the treatment T8 (control). The application of fertilizer increased the gross and added return and net additional income in all the treatments. The gross return from the control plot per crop-cycle/ha was only about Tk.2,16,650/- and the application of fertilizer increased the gross return, which ranged from Tk 2,98,725/-/ha/crop-cycle in T1 to Tk.3,54,635 /ha/crop-cycle in T3. The highest added-return of Tk. 1,37,985/- /ha/crop-cycle was obtained with T3 followed by T5 (1,01,530/ha/crop-cycle). The highest net additional income of Tk. 1,08,597/-/ha/crop-cycle was obtained with T3 followed by T5 (75,368/-/ha/crop-cycle). The MBCR of all treated plots ranged from 3.37 (T1) to 4.71 (T7), which were higher than the permit able limit (2.00).
